Plasma drilling, developed by GA Drilling, for example is just one form of innovation making it possible to reach greater depths and achieve temperatures efficiently, thus reducing cost and making geothermal accessible anywhere. New types of drilling systems include plasma drilling, a process that uses high-energy electric discharges to break up the hardest rocks deep underground. New technology layers on to enable new drilling depths, for new wells and also older wells that were previously defunct. This enables producers to leverage their existing expertise and workforce, easing the transition process and reducing the learning curve associated with entering this emerging renewable energy sector. Many skills and technologies used in oil and gas extraction are transferable to geothermal energy production. Traditional drilling technologies can only perform so well, and the process is limited by how deeply one can drill. One of the key challenges in geothermal energy production has been accessing the Earth’s heat at viable depths. Successful geothermal operations in the U.S., Canada, Iceland, and Italy are providing clear evidence of the energy source’s feasibility and economic viability. Modern geothermal technology has significantly evolved over the last few years, enabling both the generation of electricity and for providing heating and cooling solutions in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Geothermal is a virtually inexhaustible power source, available 24/7, while creating a minimal environmental impact. Geothermal energy is derived from the Earth’s internal heat, which is continuously generated by the decay of radioactive isotopes in the planet’s core and from relict heat. Still, new advancements in drilling technology are making geothermal possible anywhere as a reliable, safe, and efficient baseload energy source. Power producers’ embrace of geothermal has long been in the works. Geothermal is emerging as one of the most promising renewable energy sources globally, and over the coming years will become an essential component of the overall power market. Lastly, featured is an insulation class of 1 and only includes one speed and a cable length of 8″-2″.In the common global quest for sustainable and renewable energy sources, traditional oil and gas producers are beginning to focus on alternative sources. So, Riordan just invented a baddie that was going to follow in Ptolemy's footsteps, this time for evil and not for good. Seems Ptolemy was a historical figure that combined knowledge of the ancient Greeks and the Egyptians. Normally you're not supposed to "cross the streams" in fantasy literature, but Riordan did, logically and cleverly. Percy and Annabeth are Greek demi-gods, while Sadie and Kane are Egyptian magicians. This is a short story - about 64 pages that brings together the main characters of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series with the brother and sister of the Kane Chronicle series. ”I kissed her, because 1) when you’re a demigod going into battle, every kiss might be your last, and 2) I like kissing her”. Up until tonight nothing was wrong with keynote or preview? at all. Other files are exporting ok although I am now noticing colour changes etc. As an explicit setting of White is not the default setting and we would need to change it on all of our documents, I was wondering what was. Setting it back to 'No color' brings the gray back. I have exported the same file on my MBP and its perfect but still not on the imac. Going to the Page Layout tab and selecting 'Page Color' shows that it is set to 'no color.' If I explicitly set it to White, then the PDF appears correct. Luckily I have iwork 09 on my MBP as well so am just going to continue from there but its really odd that this should happen now. Its illegible at best and just plain messy - its helvetica neue but looks more like comic sans in the export. All images and tables within the poster are fine but the text has become pretty dire. I just decided to delete a pretty irrelevant bullet point and then export to send it to the uni. In what can only be a triumph of bad luck I have a medical poster (audit) to submit to the university tomorrow morning and up until tonight have made a number of changes and exported to PDF every time with no problems. * print as Adobe PDF using Standard, Print Quality or High Print Quality settings.ġ) Is this simply due to Keynote being presentation software and it is just not designed for print precision?Ģ) What is the most accurate way to print to PDF from within Keynote? Is there a better setting or method that I've not yet found?ģ) Has anyone else experienced any of these issues? This is the most likely method to generate the black text mentioned above. * print to Postscript and then generating the PDF through Distiller - this tends to give the worst results in comparison to creating the PDF directly from Keynote. When the end-user does not specify anything, these default settings are used to specify size, font, colors, styles, ticks, markers, etc. We have tried creating PDFs in the following ways: Any plotting library or software comes with a set of default settings. In addition, sometimes, the amount of space between the bars within a set are not equal to each other. While the chart data is correct and the label for a particular bar verifies this, the height of the bar displays incorrectly. In addition, we are also seeing on the Keynote presentation itself (as well as PDFs) some issues where charts are not calculated correctly. Issues include: grid lines disappearing from some, but not all graphs portions of grid lines becoming opaque around the text - with a padding of 2-3 em also affected font sizes which are readable on one slide at that particular size and rotation are mysteriously pixelated or missing sections of the letters on a different slide some white text showing up as a black colour unless we go in and change the opacity of that particular text from 100% to 99% hi-res images have jagged, pixelated edges. However, we're running into more and more issues with the PDFs not generating correctly (some of these issues predate Snow Leopard). We regularly offer a printout of our Keynote presentations and often send just a PDF version of them. So much of the way we think of dance as a pop-culture phenomenon are these huge, big explosive moves, like So You Think You Can Dance, but there’s something to be said for these very specific, small movements. The choreography is just as important as the lighting, which is just as important as the costume, which is just as important as the music, which is just as important as David’s words. Annie’s always been interested in, as she calls it, the virtuosity of form versus the virtuosity of a performer. Annie-B has a company called Big Dance Theater, and I’ve performed with them since 2005. Can you talk about how Annie works and how the choreography for this show was born? For people who are used to either traditional Broadway choreography or traditional backup dancer choreography in a live music show, the dancing in American Utopia will feel really different. Your connection to Annie-B Parson is how you first got involved in this show. I did “Burning Down the House,” because I’m an old color guard, marching band person, so they were like, “You got this.” I’ve assisted Annie-B on a lot of choreography gigs, and I did choreograph one number in this show. So the choreography was tailored to the suit, no pun intended. Annie-B Parson, the choreographer, was aware that we’d all be wearing suits the whole entire time, right from the beginning. We got lots of gussets and things put in. For Broadway, they got remade and fully costume-ified. They looked incredible at first and after a lot of sweating-I’m a very sweaty dancer-they were a little rundown by the end of those 10 months. On the road, they were a little bit more couture, let’s say. The suits we wore on tour were a little different than the ones we wore for Broadway. What’s it like wearing the suit? Is it comfortable? But then I really understood it.Ī fun side benefit is that the makeup just looks great with that suit. Representation is just so obviously important, and I know that. Everyone’s wearing the same suit, but you have that opportunity to present a little wink to those in the audience who need that particular message. Send me updates about Slate special offers. Throughout the film, which premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Saturday, one performer really pops out: Chris Giarmo, whose sparkly eye shadow, expressive mustache, and precise dancing make him a kind of bedazzled counterpoint to his monochrome bandmates. In Spike Lee’s film of David Byrne’s American Utopia, an ensemble of 16 musicians and vocalists fill the stage of Broadway’s Hudson Theatre, moving freely around one another, all wearing identical gray suits. Peptides are the building blocks of protein, and they are easily absorbed into the deeper layers of skin due to their smaller size. That’s why applying skin care products that contain collagen won’t provide the anti-aging benefits you’re looking for. While collagen is necessary for maintaining youthful-looking skin, the collagen protein is too large to absorb into the skin topically. As a result, the skin loses its natural plumpness and smoothness. These two proteins are responsible for your skin’s structural support. Peptides As you age, your body’s production of collagen and elastin slows down. These ingredients should all be part of your skincare routine. Maureen “Mo” Kane Dean married White House Counsel John Dean in 1972. Eventually, Dean was fired by Nixon, cooperated with prosecutors, and plead guilty to obstruction of justice. When he was finally tasked with completing an entire report on the Watergate scandal, at the direction of President Nixon, he started pulling back. At first, Dean was directly involved with the Watergate cover-up - taking charge of destroying files and more. John Dean served as the White House Counsel between 1970-1973, deep in the middle of the Watergate scandal. The most important quality to know about Mitchell? He put his loyalty to President Nixon ahead of his wife, who endured gaslighting from Nixon’s cronies. In 1975, Mitchell was found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury. Mitchell was directly involved with the Watergate scandal, and instructed former FBI agent, Steve King, to make sure his wife didn’t leave her California hotel room and begin sharing information about the scandal with reporters. In the time immediately after he served as President Nixon’s Attorney General, John Mitchell remained a loyal ally to the president during his re-election campaign. Martha Mitchell passed away in 1976, roughly four years following the Watergate scandal. “If it hadn’t been for Martha, there’d have been no Watergate,” Nixon memorably said, per Slate’s Slowburn podcast. But after President Nixon’s 1977 interview with David Frost, she was wholly vindicated. Reactions to Mitchell - even her effort to try and defend her husband’s direct involvement in the scandal - varied. Nixon’s allies set out on a mission make Martha look like a hysterical drunk to lead the nation astray from what she knew of the Watergate scandal. But when it became clear Martha might start talking to reporters, she was kidnapped, drugged, and subdued by Nixon’s lackeys. At the height of the Watergate scandal, Martha Mitchell was privy to quite a bit of information that was being relayed to her husband - a noted Nixon loyalist. Martha Mitchell was the wife of President Nixon’s Attorney General John Mitchell. Mirror folders for seamless file management. Schedule automatic hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly backups.
